Lichens, slugs and snails, pebbles, insects, deadwood — I have long been fascinated by the minute and often overlooked aspects of the natural world around us.

Growing up in Illinois, I loved the open skies, fireflies, humid summers and cicadas. Now located in Freiburg, Germany, nestled between the Black Forest and the Rhine River Valley, I have new landscapes to explore.

My background in environmental science and physical geography has influenced how I observe the world around me and helps me more accurately depict my subject matter.

Through my art and illustrations I hope to inspire others to take a closer look the next time they go for a walk outside. No matter where you are, by a tree on a street corner or on a mountain side, there is always something to discover.

I also paint faces.
